New Dawn Metis Women’s Society for Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Marwayne, Lloydminster and St Paul (District 12) strives to increase mental wellness by connecting Metis women across the district with one another through shared kinship, spiritual beliefs, health, wellness and traditional cultural practices.

By hosting the events listed below, this project will contribute to the revitalization of Metis Women’s traditional roles within their communities and families. Reconnection is a priority at all of these events to counter the harmful effects of colonization and the impacts they have had on Metis women. The health of the women contributes to the health of the Metis Nation as a whole. Therefore the general public and families will be welcome to attend and learn as well. We strive to do this with integrity always.

Activities include: Annual Metis Day, Kairos Blanket Exercise, 2SLGBTQIA+Safe Gathering, Celebrating our Stories, Celebrating our Matriarchs: Maria Campbell keynote, "Finishing Projects" event.
