The Holding Spaces Project

This project works alongside the Ponoka Pride Society, the First Nations, Metis and Inuit department of Wolf Creek Public Schools, and the Women's Wellness Program to create events and programming to support the mental wellness of these groups, as well as increases awareness and sensitivity to those groups from the larger community.

With the Ponoka Pride Society: the project will create events and programs that empower the 2SLGBTQIA+ population with tools and strategies to create and maintain mental wellness through social connection, activities that support well-being, and to help create a safe, accepting culture in Ponoka for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

With the First Nations, Metis, Inuit department at Wolf Creek Public Schools: the project works to contribute to a large community event honouring Indigenous People. We also hope to contribute to a program for senior students to benefit self-esteem, cultural pride, social connection, and well-being.

The project will expand the weekly women’s wellness program to focus on social connection by connecting women, well-being through movement, exercise, art, meditation, and drumming.. The project also supports monthly family events to inspire a culture of social connection in the community
